چکیده
The aim of this article is to generalize logics formal inconsistency (LFIs) systems dealing with the concept incompatibility, expressed by means a binary connective. basic idea that having two incompatible formulas hold trivializes deduction, and as special case, formula becomes consistent (in sense LFIs) when it its own negation. We show how notion extends consistency in non-trivial way, presenting conservative translations for many simple LFIs into some most thereby evidencing precise way incompatibility generalizes consistency. provide semantics new logics, well decision procedures, based on restricted non-deterministic matrices. use restrictions justified fact that, proved here, these are not algebraizable according Blok-Pigozzi nor they characterizable finite Nmatrices. Finally, we briefly compare our other focused treating specially those pioneered Brandom further developed Peregrin.

Reasoning from inconsistency to consistency.
This article presents a theory of how individuals reason from inconsistency to consistency. The theory is based on 3 main principles. First, individuals try to construct a single mental model of a possibility that satisfies a current set of propositions, and if the task is impossible, they infer that the set is inconsistent. Second, when an inconsistency arises from an incontrovertible fact, th...

In this paper, I discuss the analysis of logic in the pragmatic approach recently proposed by Brandom. I consider different consequence relations, formalized by classical, intuitionistic and linear logic, and I will argue that the formal theory developed by Brandom, even if provides powerful foundational insights on the relationship between logic and discursive practices, cannot account for imp...

متن کاملIntroduction to Inconsistency Tolerance
Inconsistency arises in many areas in advanced computing. Examples include: Merging information from heterogeneous sources; Negotiation in multi-agent systems; Understanding natural language dialogues; and Commonsense reasoning in robotics. Often inconsistency is unwanted, for example, in the specification for a plan, or in sensor fusion in robotics. But sometimes inconsistency is useful, e.g. ...
